Hartford, 79, head of the A&P chain died suddenly Thursday night as he was leaving a board of directors meeting of Chrysler Corp., of which he was a director. .A district meeting of the. American Legion will be held on Thursday, $ept. 27th, at Forest City.The possibility of having a senior Girl Scout program in Tryon is very slim. No mothers have been found who are willing to haul girls from the school house to the place of meeting and then from the meeting to their homes. Just to get it down on a real selfish basis, maybe *some mothers will volunteer to look after their own daughters. Eight of them doing it will guarantee a troop . . . News has been received in Tryon of the death of A. F. Edwards of Gulf port, Miss., after an illness of sometime. He was the father of Oliver G. Edwards of Tryon and was a prominent building con tractor. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Vettrl of Red Bank, N.
